Planning on going to a 'prom', and the only person around whom I knew was a former apartment mate (whom normally I'd have nothing to do with, due to the way he harrassed me and my cat). Yet as he was the only halfway 'familiar' person, I was gonna go with him. (My eldest brother may have also been around, but was now gone.) Shortly thereafter, though, I sat talking with someone, annoyed at myself for being willing to spend any time with that former apartment mate... (This reminds me of the time I went to a high school reunion, and about the only familiar person there was one of the clique of guys who'd harrassed me in 7th grade. As disgusted with myself as I was later to have said hello instead of oh, say, emptying the punch bowl over his head, I had been in a way 'glad' to see him...at least he was someone I recognized, when so many others there looked totally unfamiliar...)
