I'm no longer a Utopianist (if I ever really was). By that, I mean that I don't expect this place - ie, its people - to be perfectable.
However, I still believe it's vitally important to try. Even against the impossibility of human nature and the weight of history and all the old grudges and arrogances.
Paradox? A Fool's Errand, given that I don't consider it possible to secure an end to warring and human-human (and any other kind) exploitation?
Not really.
Think about it.

I can either be apathetic and not care, or I can try to make my little corner of the world better. You do good things for the people who are right here and who exist right now, not because you think it'll make for a Utopian future three hundred years down the road.
I think this is why I dropped Star Trek like a hot potato at the same time as I picked up Doctor Who.
