This Panera Bread branch in Newton, MA, requires workers to come in even if they are sick with an airborne, communicable virus, if they can't find somebody to cover their shifts

Would you really want to bet even money that it's only happening at that one branch?

I was written up for taking too many sick days at work. After mentioning "I was sick!" they told me, literally, "well, stop it!"

well it seems some folks are alerting some authorities.. perhaps the CDC will take a look... Flu season is in full swing.

Y'know, I sure am glad my workplace has some balance. Yes, we're in our 'silly season' with the Legislature meeting, and have been told that we cannot take leave, or leave the building for lunch (except on Fridays) while the session is going. And we're going to have to hash out how to do stuff now that our voters have decided that the Lege is going to meet yearly.

In spite of that, if I were to get sick, they'd want me to stay home and get well. I have a ton of sick leave saved up, and we have a 'catastrophic leave' policy, too.

Our country has a serious imbalance in the 'work-life' department. Perhaps this recession will serve to change things for the better.
