Sex isn't just for procreation - it also serves a social-bonding function.

You heard me - sex is for social-bonding, too.

(That doesn't mean everyone must go about being wildly sexually promiscuous with everyone they're friends with - far from that.)

It just means that sex, as part of the continuum of body-based affectionate behaviors (from brief affectionate touches, to hugs, to chaste cheek kisses, to co-grooming like hair-brushing, to massages, and so on, on up to yes, the genitals...isn't just for making new humans.

And it never was.

That's what makes the anti-contraception-ers so sad.

I suspect that what's really behind their zeal is a form of self-hatred in which they think that neither they...nor anyone else...deserves to feel good.

Like I said... be fruitful and multiply. They really have boiled their entire philosophy down to that one single statement. Talk about a specialized sect. o_O

I read this without reading the subject/topic line and wondered where this discussion was coming from since I had recently read about your first date...

That's what I was wondering, too. All of a sudden she's chatting happily away about sex ... it kinda makes you want to draw conclusions (but then I'm a horrible artist and can't draw worth a damn). ;)

I have always said that if our Creator hadn't meant for us to enjoy sex, s/he would not have made our arms long enough to reach the pertinent bits.

People who believe that sex should only be for procreation simply wish to enslave women to their bodies. They only know hate- they believe that the good stuff awaits them after they die.

Poor slow things...
