A few of us IAers recently got together to start IA#28. We haven't even yet decided on which Doctor, and already one person has started sniping and carping.

Had to slap him down this afternoon. Dunno what his Issues are, but if he thinks we're just going to put up with that kind of crap...he's got another thing coming.

Believe me...I know...I do know.... where that kind of unprovoked nastiness, that he's displayed the past couple of days, comes from. I know how it feels, I know how it strains at one's self control, then eventually just slips out.

But all that means is that I'll be even more certain not to allow him to dump any further on the rest of us - if he proves himself incapable of enough self-control.

Bex, a quick request: don't slap him down. If you find that he's pumping negativity into the project, send him a quick note privately to tell him the stuff you've mentioned in the message above. Geoff's a pretty reasonable guy, and I'm sure if you point out this kind of stuff to him calmly, he'll back off, and probably even apologize. While slapping people down can be cathartic for the slapper, it can also simply antagonize the slappee even further.

I'm not saying we should all jump into a group hug, or anything, but, you know... honey and vinegar.

Oh, the 'slapping' already occured; was that msg. late this afternoon when I replied to the one he'd sent in reply to Jeff's. Judgemental as I am these days, I figured that since he evidentally hadn't given much thought to the possible effect of his reply on Jeff, he could just deal with whatever effect my similar reply to the group would have on him. Seems he didn't like being on the receiving end of his own 'tude much.

At that point we took the discussion (civilly) to prvt. e-mail, where I was even more restrained. As I mentioned to him....perhaps he didn't realize how he was coming across.

Well, he does now. Reasonable? Good. Then he'll presumably stop what came across to me clearly as unnecessary sniping.

His reply to my msg. the other day had irked me slightly, but I figured he had a right to his opinion, however sardonic. I actually give the benefit of the doubt alot, Ian. Or at least I have in the past. Sometimes too much.

But I also learn quick, including noticing patterns.

And with his reply to Jeff today, I saw the pattern of a disruptive attitude that we as a group have no room for if we're going to write a story together.

But I suspect the issue is probably already resolved.

IA #28?

Okay, I must have missed the sign up for this one...

And I'm seriously wondering who's running such a covert operation where the announcements are so hidden I can't even find out the justification as to when and why this came out of the blue...

Sigh...

Re: IA #28?

I assumed Jon posted it to the yahoo group and/or adwc, but wasn't paying attention myself (I've had other things on my mind). I got a mail from him asking if I wanted in on IA#28 and I answered 'sure', thinking he meant, should we organize another one? But then I realized, upon receiving another mail this week addressed to a handful of people, that he meant did I want to participat in it. I again shrugged to myself and figured I'd go with the flow.

Oh, you're not running it this time?

Okay...my bad...

Although, I did manage to find Jon's post after my initial comment--from around the week between Christmas and New Year's...

I think I'll just leave this one go and if Jon posts for requests for more writers if needed, I may sign on...

I'm a bit flakey like that I guess...
