Was nice. I wanted to have the Gally experience, so I finally went and had it (now that I could friggin' afford it). Not something I'd want to do every year, but then again, I was never that big on cons.
But I got to meet in person for the first time more of my peeps from the Online Realm. Wha-hey. *waves hi to peeps like Gordon, Ian, Ann, anyone else she forgot* As well as the usual reunions with various fellow drwhochat folk, not seen since last Neilcon or longer.
My roomates rawked most mightily; definitely crucial to the success of the weekend.
They were, however, from the LJ side of things, me having drifted away from former online associations such as adwc, the pmeb, a certain other mailing list, etc, so that internet social (where I was able to say hi to the aforementioned Gordon and Ian) was much appreciated. Ann (Capri-Uni) I saw at the hotel breakfast buffet.
McGann was of course about, and has apparently quite lost his con anxiety.
Hell, that works for me. Despite my tendancy to not notice him even when right nearby (he's a crafty little bugger). Even so, I and Sam W. snuck into a PMEB tea n' schmooze with him on Saturday night, though the table was so long he only alighted briefly at either end before having to flit off again. We saw Kate Orman finally getting to meet one of her...inspirations. Heh. Was cute.
Restaurant food kind of sucked, though. (I picky.)
If all the stars align, he may attend Chicago Tardis. May. But if not that one, very possibly some other N.A. con eventually. So those of you who ain't seen him yet....don't assume you never will.
What panels I saw, I liked. Powys Press has upcoming Prisoner novels. Blum and Boothe have co-written one (which didn't surprise me, given Boothe's surreal Prisoner-influenced UK cable show).
The fan videos (including the one made on last year's Who Cruise and at last year's Gally) rawked most mightily. The Bill Filer vids made us howl. Remember, vid-making peeps, to use your power only for Good. 'Kay?
Or I'll sic Bill Filer, secret UNIT operative, on you.
A certain St. Andrews student has a...surprise of sorts coming her way. Heh.
I wonder if Trina bought any of those shiny new and unusual Sylv photos on sale at the autograph sessions.
*pauses to pry open the truffles box and snag the last remaining few*
Darrow still has a lovely voice.
Jenn briefly amused Janet Fielding (as well as India Fisher). (And yes, you'll have to ask her...) *....ducks and runs from Jenn...*
!!!!!IT MUST STILL BE IN-JOKE WEEK!!!!!
Finally saw Shalka. Umm, yeah, I kind of wish I'd known about those couple of little details before the end of IA #27.
Bizarrely, Grant hasn't yet made a point of mentioning to McGann that he even did that role.
That was me, BTW, giving that exultant yelp of 'YES!!!' from the back of the ballroom, when Segal and McGann settled the coat-color question....once and for all.
Got a few little things from the Dealer's room - DVD copy of the Whovie, a rolykin Dalek, and a Rohan LotR celticy bookmark. You know, I expected a helluva lot bigger Dealer's room. Is everyone giving up on the con circuit due to the 'net?
Beatles songs kept playing mentally in my head all weekend.
Won an art auction item - nice obsidian glass arrow-head necklace...whose leather cord prompty broke as I tried to put it on for the first time...as the artist walked by in the hallway and noticed. She'll be mailing it out to me within a few days, repaired. (I think the fact that I over-bid the minimum by $7 didn't hurt.)
Had a meal at Denny's. Von's has a decent and cheap hot Mexican food bar. Their boxed salads aren't half bad. Despite the general suckiness of the restaurant food, the breakfast buffets were all right. Jenn had a salad she liked; Sam and Pam found their steaks decent. Just to be fair. Service a bit slow. Get salad dressings on the side. Western Union ATMS charge among the least amount of foreign ATM fees.
When you utter the word 'orgasm' in a hotel restaurant...people tend to notice.
Yee Jee Tso is indeed a personable fellow.
(Those last two sentances are not related. Really.)
Con-going makes me want to finish half-written stories and neaten-up my fic archive pages.
So I will now go do just dat.

I only bought one (I had some of those already) and it's really cool. I was miffed, however, to find they had yet anther photo the next day, but I didn't want to stand in line again just to spend $20 on another photo. (Yeah, I'm a sad fangurl, but I do have my limits.)

I guess I really wasn't a social person or something.
