Someone's down in the cellar, poking around. My cat's under the bed - I suspect the fumes, which just got a bit stronger (probably as the door to the cellar's nearby - I still have the windows open, so despite the nasty smell, there's plenty of air circulating) and the sound of someone knocking around down there alarmed her.
I sigh because it's pretty obvious - if something like a fire occured (and I wasn't around), she'd probably do the same thing - follow cat instinct and hide.
Which would be the exact wrong thing to do in that case... and would get her killed.
Oh well.
