Running around my neighborhood trying to get the last few interviews (of managers) so I can write up my class's 2nd assignment (something currently occurring in real life).
Hanging out with a few people, including a woman who had been house-sitting (we might have been in the house in question). She was explaining that she'd discovered that her friends (a couple) were later than planned in returning from their trip due to the very simple and non-emergency reason that the wife wanted to shoe shop. She put it thusly: The husband actually had some shoe problem or issues, maybe relatively worn or old shoes, but it was the wife who had initiated the additional shopping expedition, for some petty reason or other. In the end, just self-indulgent consumerism. Their house-sitting friend was pissed off, and vowed, 'never again' (would she house-sit for them).
