I've had enough recent self-observed evidence that sugar is doing Bad Things to my system that I've decided to bite the bullet and go on a refined sugar/carb fast for a minimum of a month's time. And see if I feel any different.

Some say that refined sugar can act like some drugs do, on brain chemistry, including serotonin and endorphins. And that, yes...a craving not unlike any addict's can be set up, throwing a person into a vicious cycle.

I've seen my mood and energy level plummet and rise, plummet and rise after sugar enough lately to see that my own personal hypothesis is worth testing now.

don't cold turkey. i'm really warning you. talk about withdrawal. I did it years back.. extremely nasty experience. (course I made sure I got NO refined sugar from anything at the time)

I'd suggest lowering your intake for a bit then stopping.

No worries; it'll take a few days to finish the casserole I'd made for lunch this week (which has sugar in it, via the tomato soup ingrediant), as well as to finish several cartons of soy milk with sweetening, and one pot noodle (all that simple white carb)...

Net effect is a lowering, at least...no sugar in the coffee, no refined sugar/carb treats, no soda or fruit juice drinks with concentrated juice in it...
