Leadership used to (sooooo many moons ago, grasshopper) be a meritocracy. Perhaps we do deserve whatever we get for letting warped knuckleheads squirm their way into positions of power to begin with. I mean, they used to give some value for the money, kwim?

My God, we've been too big for way too long; the bureauocracy's too immense.

I think we need to go back to tribes again. As an extension of that, countries shouldn't be above a certain size.

Notice how the Soviet Union broke back up into manageable little nations. No, they weren't together as a republic for as long as we have been. Your point?

Ha! I just bought a Noam Chomsky book! The title in Finnish is "World domination or world ending", but the English title was something a lot less dramatic. :P

Times like these I hope that the Michael Teachings are correct about people being reborn and going through stages of development. -.- Bureauocracy is one of the "young person" type systems, so if the MT are right then things would have to change.. after a while.. a long time.. when we've finally evolved to setting up a better system. :P Arrgghh..
