Friends of the family's daughter got married today - nice ceremony: outside at a country club, gorgeous weather, short & sweet, Justice of the Peace officiating the union of Jewish-American gal and Polish-American guy. Hybrid ceremony: the traditional simple vows, the Jewish stomping of the glass, a later signing of the traditional 'legal' Jewish wedding certificate, and one traditional Jewish dance was played. Moderate number of guests at the reception. Nothing spectacular menu-wise, but decent, well-done wedding food, and just enough of the traditional wedding reception schmooze. Among the several wedding favors there was included a home-burned CD of the couples' favorite songs, all subsequently played at the wedding by the DJ. The newly-married couple had recorded their own 'kareoke' version of some popular Edwin McCain song (not strong singers, but certainly a notch above the usual kareoke skill level), to which they danced their official 'first dance'.
One of my brothers 'won' the table flower arrangement, but didn't want the hassle of getting it home, so I took it.
