Vacuumed! (Yeh, was getting a little scary there for a while...)
Domestic-y and nest-y these days.
Nice Department picnic (classy catered spread at the department chairman's place) today. Much more low-key and relaxed than last year's. Fewer people, perhaps partly due to the much chillier weather. That, plus the obligatory 'State of the Department' meeting held earlier this summer, which perhaps led some to conclude that it wasn't stricly necessary to make an appearance at the picnic.
Plus, I was no longer a relative newbie just a few weeks into a new job, unnerved at seeing so many unrecognizable faces (not realizing til later that many of the attendees were MDs from the clinics - they didn't even work in the lab).
So, I knew alot more people, and also got a ride out there.
A couple of this year's newbies gravitated towards our group, to hang out with us...(We being among the few people there they kind of knew...)
