“We have chosen one of Britain’s finest actors to play what, in effect, will be an overtly modern hero.”

Err...meaning what, exactly...? (The 'overtly modern' bit I mean.)

That said...welcome, #9.

Well...he's not Eddie Izzard. I love Eddie to death, but It hought he'd make a dreadful Dr. Who.

Heh...

Highly Amusing to me how the fandom always seems to run around worrying about who they'll cast as the Doctor, then goes to watch all the movies the guy's been in (as if from that they'll somehow glean how he'll interpret the character).

When, as one British comedy sketch (during a BBC Doctor Who Night TV Special a few years back) noted...about any decent British actor can play such an iconic role.

Maybe they were exaggerating...but I don't think by much.

Meanwhile, all I can think is something along the lines of:
The Doctor is dead...Long live the Doctor

Looking forward to next year.

Me, too. Any Doctor Who is better than no Doctor Who. :)
