I was the (grade school age, I think) child (possibly only) of well-off, possibly wealthy parents. We were in a city setting, and running late to attend lessons at some sort of martial arts dojo. We didn't seem overly upset about this, but there was this tradition where, if one was late, one had to apologize formally to the sensei by getting on hands and knees, and kind of touching one's forehead to the ground before them, waiting for him/her (this one had a female sensei) to acknowlege your arrival, then 'forgive' you, giving you formal permission to go get changed and attend the lesson anyway (considering that you'd in effect, been irresponsible by not getting there on time and were potentially interrupting the flow of the lesson, etc.). However, while there was humbleness involved, there was no real humiliation factor that I detected during this 'apology'. Perhaps as, in practice, the female sensei was reasonably merciful and gracious - and/or, we were not really habitual offenders. My parents went in first, apologized, headed off (I presume) to the locker rooms to change, and then I approached. (It seemed a busy place; people coming and going; people were around.) In a few moments, she 'acknowledged' me, also. There was a momentary touch of sternness, in a Yoda-esque way; apparently I'd gotten a 'C' in something at school recently, so she harrumphed momentarily over that in a 'You weren't taking your work so seriously, were you?' way. As if that fact was more concerning to her than us arriving late that day. She considered briefly having us all share a locker or something like that, (as the having to share might teach more responsibility), but I was soon sent off to go get ready also. While she could be sensei-stern, she was not a 'scary' lady per se (to me). So, while we might be a bit 'embarrassed' to be late...we were not 'ashamed'.
Other than that, there was also, I think, some general urban wandering in general (whether connected or seperate from this specific scenario I don't recall).
No EE meditation
No Biphasic sleep, though a 5:23 am waking for a pit stop
