Dislodged my bedroom's clutter log-jam last night, at long last; got the energy moving again. Realized yesterday how ridiculous it was that I could be dealing with someone else's papers for hours at a time, for free (internship), yet not be properly dealing with and storing my own (as well as procrastinating for months on deciding on final disposition for other, unused objects).

Dealing with them now.
Not quite as crass a statement as it looks, first glance. With p/t grad scool going on as well as a f/t job, I've less and less patience (or time) left in which to go out to purchse goods (stuff I actually need), as well as the less necessary but Fun stuff, though once in a great while I still do feel the urge to go Malling. But only very occasionally, nowadays.

Sneakers were wearing out; needed to replace them. Ended up buying direct from a manufacturer's website. Got what I wanted at no more than sugggested retail, a model not in the stores nearby, nor at my usual shoe website (much to my annoyance). The $5 shipping charge was a completely acceptable add-on for not having to search all around the area to get exactly what I wanted.

Thus, with my computer, the entire world is my 'mall'. If I'm saavy enough to avoid the scams and disreputable merchants that are out there, obviously. *knocks wood*

Recent prizes:

  • Skecher's slip-on sneakers
  • 2 hand-carved wooden cookie molds (from this dude in Illinois) - could only pay by check, but I became aware of his products, and got what I wanted.
  • A certain brand of glazed stoneware dinnerware - some pieces I can get locally, via open stock, others I can only get from the American branch of this european company. Slowly adding to my collection.

I've gotten celtic jewelry from Ireland, and once, via eBay, a turquoise pendant all the way from somewhere in Asia (Indonesia IIRC).

At the very least, I window-shop via the web before deciding what to aim for while visiting the merchants who do have stores in town. And such window-shopping, from the comfort of my own apt., replaces what used to be, in the past, a lot of time-eating literal pavement-pounding.
