...that thinking outside the average box (in this instance, 'progressive' thinking' in general) can correlate with paranoia, self-denigration and still plenty of that black & white 'us vs them' thinking.
And no, this isn't directed towards anyone on my friend's list. I was just shaking my head at the rampent assumptions displayed recently by some on the Democratic Underground discussion forums. I used to see it at another board I used to hang out at (but no longer do); and lo, here it is again. (Quel surprise).
People, sure there are plenty of 'Ugly Americans', but people from other parts of the world are also capable of pulling some stupid shit too, you know....
There's also this irritating, fervernt, (and IMO masochistic) 'Now we're all gonna SUFFERSUFFERSUFFER for all the bad things we've collectively done as Ugly Amerikuns/Ugly First-Worlders!' subtext in many posts.
You know, guys.... it isn't always about US. And 'bad events' we don't like aren't necessarily 'punishments'. You know?
