Was in what looked like my childhood home's bedroom. A small scruffy dog trailing something tin-can-like from a leash or rope (he didn't seem to notice it or mind much) entered...I glanced outside the window to see a stream of various dog breeds running through the front yard. Impression that the little dog wanted to rejoin that pack/the rest wanted him back.

White Bean Dip with Pesto
This simple variation on a bean dip comes from Carolyn Faye Fox, columnist and panelist on National Public Radio's "Says You!" It can be made a day ahead, is easily doubled, and is great served with pita bread and breadsticks.
1 15-ounce can white beans (canelli)
4 to 5 tablespoons pesto
juice from half a fresh lemon
jarred roasted red peppers (for garnish)
salt and pepper to taste
extra virgin olive oil (if necessary)
1.) In a colander, drain and rinse beans. Pour into a medium bowl and mash with a fork or potato masher until slightly clumpy.
2.) Add 4-5 tablespoons pesto and the lemon juice, and stir to combine. If mixture seems too dry or pasty, add more pesto or a little oilve oil.
3.) Just before serving, add roasted red pepper strips (stir them in or lay them decoratively across the top) and salt and pepper.
---
And yes, I post this just having made some up (sans red pepper) and had some with whole wheat crackers.
