Wandering outside with a female companion...I noticed off to the side of the road a woman, reclining, who had a sign, offering a washing (clothing apparently) service - though in an old-fashioned way, possibly in the river - got the impression this was a 'Brazilian' custom. My companion hesitated, then called over to the woman, asking her if she ever had trouble with 'rattlesnakes' in the water. The other woman came over and they promptly started talking 'shop', as if enjoying talking to someone who understood where the other was coming from...something about straining the water of a puddle (with cheesecloth?) and then having to deal with a snake that had been within... The washer-woman kvetched about her past experience trying to safely get venom from such a snake (from its face/head) using said cheesecloth...
