Today's Outing

Dropped by the house warming party of someone I used to work with. Having heard her past @#$%ing about the problems with their old apartment, I had to see their new digs. ^_^ Was two towns over; took the train and walked a short way. Comfy bedroom community, soccer mom town with good schools and high property taxes. You know the scene. Nice home, though; just the place for two youngish professionals (one still finishing up his degree) to dig in for a bit and raise their two young kids - one still a toddler, the other just school age.

And I like Anytown; I like going out on the porch at night to look at the lights of the town: fireflies in the blue gloaming, across the valley, up the hill, white homes whre children played and rested, where wives made potato salad, home from a day in the autumn leaves chasing sticks with the family dog, families in the firelight, thousands of identical, cozy days.
