My cold is at the sludgy drip part; I've avoided the hacking cough stage thus far. Hoping I'll be able to by-pass that this time. We shall see.

My big adventure for today was going to the circulation department (at work)'s holiday party. Which yes, extremely sanely...is after Christmas. I wore a little grey cropped wool jacket I'd gotten months ago at the Goodwill store. I'd finally made a couple of minor alterations to the jacket a couple of days ago to render it wearable. Potluck lunch; being sick I understandably wasn't going to make anything myself, so I purchased about a pound of chicken wings at the health food market deli. About a third was left over; I took them home again and can make a meal tommorrow out of what is left, which is good.

They had a Yankee Gift Swap (where after a certain point people can force others to trade gifts with them if they like the other gifts better than what they originally got). I had brought a silly fish pen (looks like a lure but is a real pen) that I'd had lying around for a few years and was saving for just such an occasion; it got swapped once by someone who liked it better than what they'd got. I opened a rather nice little unique footed votive candle holder; looks sort of Victorian or Edwardian. I opted to keep it and no one else liked it better enough than their original gift to make me trade, so I kept my first choice.

All in all, I'd say I came out of the get-together ahead of the game - a nice candle holder (I'm getting quite the collection now, what with the one I got from one brother and now this new one), and several pieces of a zucchini frittata type thing I packed away with my leftover wings.

And now the non-drowsy cold medicine I took is still making me feel just the teeeniest bit woozy. Time to settle in for the long winter's evening.
