Cooking for myself
Been pretty down on myself the past few days...
Still gotta eat, though. And since today is Sunday, I realized I had to make my weekly meal treat - lately, a baked chicken and fresh french fries meal.
Cooking chicken legs right now. I combine equal parts of salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, basil, and today, a little bit of chili powder, and use it as a meat-rub.
Today I'll have one of those, fries, and the remainder of the fresh aparagus the folks brought down when they visited on Friday.
And I finally used several mis-matched apples (several different varieties) that I'd managed to accumulate in my crisper drawer. One had been there for a couple of months (was starting to dry out inside on one side). Well, now they're all in a nice little dish of apple crisp. Will have for dessert with a wee bit of whipped cream.
I've gotten much better at not wasting any food I bring home. Even before I came down to the wire, finance-wise due to quitting my job, I'd improved vastly in that way.
