Picked up my keys to the new apartment today.
The elevator is working, the laundry in the building is working (I received the debit card that I'll need to use the machine).
Had a walk-through with one of the management agents. Workmen left scratches on the bamboo flooring (probably from moving ladders around); the agent documented this (wrote it down). I will make sure I get a copy of that inspection document. I made damn sure that we both looked at every area that had floor damage. I will also take digital photos to save when I come in to clean the floor within the next day or so. The fact that there are scratches didn't bother me too much; they don't stand out that much - but I refuse to get blamed for them later.
The apartment is much smaller than I remember; I had obviously mixed it up with the other units in the complex I'd seen the day I 1st saw it. For instance that little bit of wall I recalled hiding the kitchen area? Isn't there - that was me mixing up this apartment with another one.
But you know what? It's still a nice little apartment (and has 2 closets).
So...a few days closer to the move.
However....when I found out that if I wanted to add another pet, it would cost me another $250 one-time fee plus cost another $35/month.... I had my answer as to whether I'd try to keep the little red cat.
I won't be.
She came into my life for me to find her a good home - but not to keep her myself. So now I'm casting my net and asking all around - anyone in my area interested in a sweet, good natured teenaged female red tabby cat?
If someone fairly local would adopt her, I'd even be willing to spring for the vet check & spaying. (Would save you a nice chunk of change.) Seriously.
